Hydro & Marine Redbird Construction - Part 2
Photos and text by Miha Holc
Here are all the components :
Graupner C261 9 gram servo Decased Graupner R600 6 channel receiver Schulze Slim 18be with custom aluminium cooling plate (outdated and replaced with better controllers) Speed 400 4.8 V Race motor with all the water cooling things and flux rings 7 x 700 AR cells, unmatched unzapped

Before building I tested where the CG would be with components just sitting in. I easily came on 112 mm measured from the back of the boat bottom as plans suggested with some cells/motor movement however not considering the hardware weight.

Floodchamber
The boat comes with factory installed floodchamber plate. However I found some holes at the step and edges. So I mixed LF2 epoxy (as described on my Kiwi Pico buildup) and some cotton flakes and sealed the holes.

Next was cutting out the back opening for the floodchamer. Nothing beats DremelÄ

By the plans one 2 mm hole on the top on the front of the chamber is enough.
Nope, it is not enough as I found on the first runs. One 3mm hole on the bottom is needed about 3.5 cm from the wing leading edge in order to get the trapped air out À thanks Lars!
