Motor News
NEW! MP-JET, a Czech Republic company has launched a new line of micro sized brushless motors. They are quoted as being a replacement for the Speed 300 size motors.

Miha Holc has translated some information from www.mpjet.com for us:

"As far as I understand Czech:
Segmented two pole rotor (like lehner!)
Neo magnets (ok that's nothing new, but hey at that price?)
Special windings for less losses
One piece front design (not glued like hacker)
Integrated connectors (hmm, like MC2?)
Little bit tricky with mounting screws (3 of them, M2 size in 11 m diameter).

As I've been told there will be these motors available: http://www.mpjet.com/news/motor/brushless/20100/window.html
Very nice for our Mini Hydro class. I'll report soon.

But boy, they have smaller motors which turn massive rpms"

Thanks for letting us know Miha!

NEW! MEGA has just expanded their VERY POPULAR line of 16 series motors with the new 16/7 series.... It's a shorter version of the 16/15 motors. Higher KV and lighter weight. www.megamotorusa.com

MEGA has also changed the back of the 16/15 series. They are now supplied with solder tabs instead of wires. www.megamotorusa.com

Battery News
Rumors - (seen on ezonemag.com) A possible replacement for the old 500AR's that were so good! A new cell from new an "Asian" battery company. It is a 2/3A cell that weighs 21 grams. At 10 Amps it natches the best of the OLD 500AR cells in voltage but the new cell has more than twice the capacity. It is rated at 950 mah!

The latest battery of choice is the the new Sanyo 4/5AUP 1700 NiMH cell. Very surprising batteries! They are the same size as 700AR cells but act like much larger cells. They delivered a useable 1450mah @ 15amps, and ran for 5:45. Excellent duration and good voltage. 7 of these cells weigh under the 275g. limit.
