Notes
Here are pics
of my sport hydro as far as it is right now. Actually the nose deck
and leading edge are on now and most of the hardware is made, but
those will be in the next pics in about a week or so. SPECS: L.O.A.
- 16 1/4" Beam - 8" Tunnel - 4 1/8" wide Target weight (bare wood
hull) 4 - 5 oz. Target weight (RTR) - 1 lb. (well I can try) Construction,
as you can see is built-up,using 1/16" & 3/32" balsa and 1/32" &
mostly 1/64" ply.
Added 9/30/01 - Here are some of the latest shots. The whole boat
with 7-1300's, 480 equiv. wt. etc. should just sneak under 1.5 lbs.
The boat will be called the "HydroMite". There will eventually
be an article coming on constructing your own hardware. The cowl
is a one-off for the prototype ( blue foam covered with strips of
newsprint paper/white glue). I hope to have available a vacuum-formed
styrene version. Use what you like. I am drawing a new set of plans
right now reflecting the evolutionary changes during proto construction.
These plans will be available for free downloading on RRR a little
later this Fall. I am also going to put up a complete album of all
const. photos on Photopoint. When this is available, I will publish
the link on Microhydros.com
Enjoy,
Doug Forrester
