Sp400 General
Data and Motor Specifications
 Although
many people refer to these motors as Speed 400 motors, that name
is a Graupner trademark. The motor is relabelled and
sold by Graupner under this name. These motors are manufactured
by Mabuchi. These motors are not manufactured for RC applications.
They were not intended to operate in the range that we subject
them to in RC applications. These motors are manufactured for
consumer products such as hair dryers, cordless screwdrivers and
small portable vacumn cleaners. The motor is actually an
RS380 type motor. There are different varieties of this
motor created by different specifications such as the number of
windings, wire size, brush type, etc. The 2 varieties commonly
used are the 6 volt and 7.2 volt RS380 motors. There are several
companies labelling these motors under the following names.
These motors can also be purchased through electronics and surplus
houses.

Graupner Speed 400
Multiplex Permax 400
Zoom 400.
Robbe Power 400/35 (6 volt)
Robbe Power 400/45 (7.2 volt)
